The Machinist I operates all manual equipment such as, Lathes, Band Saws, Centerless Grinder and occasionally CNC machines according to work packet to produce optimum output of quality of machined parts.
Job Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully the individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Ability to work effectively in a self-directed team setting and ability to solve problems Use safe practices and comply with all company policies, procedures and health, safety and environmental regulations, as required Conduct safety observations and EHS activities as required by our plant EHS program Keep a clean work environment in accordance with company policy and procedures Contribute ideas and suggestions on improvement opportunities Handle raw material and hazardous waste safely and in an environmentally responsible manner Assist in identification of potential aspects and impacts to the environment; participate in activities (such as recycling) to minimize adverse environmental impacts Perform preventative maintenance on equipment Work from written procedures and work routers Follow instructions and procedures carefully Record data, record and report problems as they arise to Dept. Lead and Engineering Operator is responsible for running manual machines for the production of Meldin rods Operator may run CNC mills and lathes as needed Operate machines running complex/advanced/non-routine jobs by direction of the Department Lead and Engineer Sharpen tooling as necessary Dismantle jigs, tools, and special fixtures for simple and medium skilled operations. Employee is required to operate: manual lathe, band saw, centerless grinder, hollow mill, hand tools, vacuums, slicers, micrometers, verniers and other inspection equipment Ability to use measuring equipment effectively such as micrometers and calipers

Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Work in a manner that complies with all site policies and procedures, actively demonstrate SG principles of conduct & action, and adhere to all EHS requirements
Read work orders to understand and meet customer specifications
Ability to maintain drawing specifications by monitoring dimensional and visual characteristics to detect non-conformances Keep a clean work environment in accordance with company policy and procedures Contribute ideas and suggestions on improvement opportunities Follow instructions and procedures carefully Record data, record and report problems as they arise Report defective material or equipment problems to lead or engineer, as directed Contribute to the team by performing other duties as needed
Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken Knowledge of proper safety procedures Effective verbal/written communications skills and organizational skills Must have strong work ethic, attention to detail, good attendance, and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Work Experience:
6+ months' experience: In a manufacturing environment is Required.
6+ months' experience: Manual Machining equipment is Preferred.

We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer prospective candidates and provide the local pay range for this position, which is $19.00 to $22.00 per hour. This hourly pay rate offered can vary depending on location, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. In addition to the hourly base pay rate, this position is eligible for periodic bonus payments/an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount can be up to 10% of hourly rate based on company and individual performance measures. The total annual target cash range (Hourly Pay Rate plus Bonus, annualized (40 hrs./week * 52wks)) for this position, is $43,400 to $50,300. Bonus payments are part of variable compensation and by nature can vary based on company and individual performance and is not a guarantee.
