Job Summary

Leadsand manages a group responsible for the development of the Houston Electric financial plan and forecast, and delivers regular performance reporting, and variance analysis to key stakeholders and management. Works with operations to identify and execute on continuous improvement opportunities. Performs ad hoc financial analysis in support of ongoing and emergent initiatives. Partners with other finance and accounting functions to ensure an operating environment with appropriate internal controls.

Essential Functions




  • Managesthe development of management reports, including monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for assigned stakeholder groups. Includes all forecasting and variance analysis of actual to plan and prior year results.


  • Leads the preparation of the annual financial plans for assigned stakeholder groups.
  • Works with Accounting and Regulatory to assist in the development of regulatory strategy, including analysis of the need for rate increases and preparation of required analyses, responses to data requests, etc.
  • Produce KPI dashboards and reporting capabilities to help drive actionable insights and strategic decision making for business units and functional areas.
  • Drive continuous improvement mindset and develop innovative processes, procedures and/or tools to support analysis of business performance.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders under areas supported, Finance/Accounting, and organizational leadership.
  • Seek and identify financial opportunities and risks for various stakeholder areas supported.
  • Work directly with VP/ Directors/ Managers to provide general financial support, including but not limited to activities such as ad hoc financial analysis, financial modeling, strategic plans and business case scenario analysis.



Education Description




  • Requires a bachelor'sdegree with a focus in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration from an accredited college or university.





Experience




  • Requiresa minimum of eight (8) years experience in the utility industry, with at least three (3) years of experience in managerial positions.
