GENERAL PURPOSE A frame assembler builds wood furniture frames using clamps, forms, and gigs in a manufacturing setting at a standard rate of work based on customer demand and lean manufacturing principles. This position follows standard work methods and promotes safe work habits to ensure production is efficient and safe.Cross-training in other departments to learn additional functions is required. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Position and assemble frame parts, operating clamps and forms. Completes required paperwork correctly to ensure record accuracy. Maintains a clean, safe working environment according to 5s and department safety guidelines. Participates in improvement activities within current department or other departments as appropriate. Performs a minimum of 75% of the jobs in the department at the required rate (cycle time). Rotates through the department work stations based on business need. Checks equipment and product as needed, reports problems or issues regarding safety or quality to department supervisor. Regular and predictable attendance based on scheduled hours. Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives. Education/Experience One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency Skills and Abilities Competent in basic math skills such as counting, adding, and subtracting. Ability to work cooperatively within the team as well as with members of other teams to meet goals. Demonstrated willingness to adapt to a continually changing environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms for the duration of the shift. Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and move up to 40 lbs.
