Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a SAGE Regulatory & Insights Analyst. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV) and consideration given for 100% remote US locations.

The SAGE Regulatory and Insights Analyst provides legislative tracking and insight to our Strategic Advisory and Government Enforcement (SAGE) business unit.


Responsibilities

As a SAGE Regulatory & Insight Analyst, you will:

  • Maintain and optimize all legislative and regulatory tracking within SAGE, whether internal or external facing.
  • Coordinate and streamline all tracking requirements introducing efficiencies and consistency where appropriate.
  • Manage current and future tracking requirements by: (i) maintaining comprehensive list of all tracking taking place; (ii) determining where tracking can and should be integrated or maintained separately, (iii) assessing utilization of tracking; (iv) identifying duplicative or unnecessary tracking based on usage and strategic priorities; and (v) creating a standard process for scoping and establishing requested tracks.
  • Integrate tracking (where appropriate) into internal consolidated platforms to improve accessibility, increase utilization, and streamline work.
  • Optimize use of existing R&I data sources to populate and improve our tracking.
  • Lead in the identification and promotion of additional or alternative sources needed to improve our approach, respecting the limitations on the use of all data for secondary purposes.
  • Collaborate with SAGE leadership and partners to identify and prioritize tracking, and identify new areas to track.
  • Propose and develop recommendations for tracking consistent with SAGE's strategy and goals.
  • Support and contribute to projects to externally share or productize our insights for clients.
  • Work with BD, R&I, Data, and Innovation to leverage regulatory data and client BD data to identify pitch and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Work with R&I and Innovation to identify areas to speed or automate tracking and reporting, including using GenAI and agentic AI.
  • Maintain a watching brief on new tracking products and AI implementation to ensure our service is market leading.
  • Identify and develop client facing products.

Relationship management

  • The SAGE Regulatory & Insights Analyst must be a credible, capable professional, able to build and maintain productive relationships with peers, attorneys and clients.
  • The SAGE Regulatory & Insights Analyst will work closely with peers within R&I and colleagues within Innovation, BD, Communications and attorneys to promote and champion SAGE's tracking

Qualifications

  • Knowledge: possesses an understanding of the legislative and regulatory environment in the US and the ancillary issues associated with providing a current awareness solution for these.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to review and analyze information to identify trends and further research requirements.
  • Technical Proficiency: familiarity with legal information products and platforms, confident in the use of MS Office, and experience and interest in using AI and new technology.
  • Project Management skills: Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple projects and streamline processes efficiently.
  • Communication skills: ability to write concisely and effectively; clear and effective oral communication.
  • Commitment to a continuous improvement approach: ability to identify inefficiencies; develop and design solutions to improve processes.
  • Resourceful, creative and solutions orientated; able to align this activity with the strategic goals of the Practice.
  • Resilient, proactive and adaptable approach to work.
  • Possesses team orientation at all levels.

Compensation and Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is:

  • California Major Markets* $91,000.00 - $121,000.00
  • New York City $96,000.00 - $121,000.00
  • National $86,000.00 - $111,000.00

* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.

Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
