Compensation Grade: P16Compensation Details: Minimum: $57,247.00 - Maximum: $57,247.00 AnnuallyDepartment (OPH) CEH - Bureau of Environmental & Occupational EpidemiologyJob Description: Responsibilities The Public Health Specialist II will work with hospitals, clinics, and physicians' offices to obtain medical records for potential cases of birth defects and stillbirth. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining a caseload tracking system, screening identified cases for eligibility in special studies, abstracting the required data into the data collection tool, and perform other appropriate related duties. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Epidemiology, Environmental Studies, Public Health, Health Administration or a related field and one year of experience in a public health, human services or health related program/organization; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and three years of such experience; OR five years of related experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience abstracting medical record data for a research study. Master's degree in public health or a closely related field. Knowledge of birth defects and medical record terminology. Experience in use of electronic medical record (EMR) platforms. Familiarity with data entry using a variety of tools. Experience using Microsoft Excel, Access, and Adobe Pro. Conditions of Employment Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required. Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Travel, up to 10% of the time, will be required. The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.
