The Columbia University Department of Physics seeks to appoint an Assistant Professor in the area of experimental atomic, molecular, and optical physics. It is expected that the candidate will develop a vigorous independent research program, continuing the long Columbia record of forefront accomplishment in science. Applicants for this position must possess a doctoral degree in Physics or a related field and have demonstrated the ability to do pioneering experimental research as well as the promise of excellence in teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. This position has a start date of July 1, 2025. Review of applications and scheduling of interviews will begin on December 1, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled.

Ph.D.

All candidates must have a strong publication record and have demonstrated the potential to establish a vigorous individual research program and to teach effectively using modern tools of instruction.

Candidates also must have the potential for future development as a scientist, scholar and teacher.
