Kick It California (KIC), based in Moores Cancer Center at UC San Diego, is positioned to intersect research and practice in the field of tobacco control. Established in 1992 as the first publicly funded statewide quitline, KIC (formerly known as the California Smokers' Helpline) contributed to the wide establishment of evidence-based, telephone-counseling services for smoking cessation both in the U.S. and internationally. KIC's scientific innovation and research is recognized for advancing the field of tobacco control. KIC researchers organize large population surveys that examine substance use behavior among adolescents in addition to conducting randomized controlled trials of tobacco cessation interventions. KIC is funded to evaluate multiple school-based behavioral intervention programs, including California's Tobacco-Use Prevention Education (TUPE) program. Under the direction of the Communications Director and in collaboration with Program Managers, this position is responsible for producing and publishing a new series of cannabis-related resources tailored to teens. The work is goal-oriented, with directives provided verbally or in writing (e.g., conducting user research to inform the development of a teen-focused booklet). The incumbent will work under the regular supervision of the Communications Director and Project Managers, with an expectation to check in regularly for guidance, gather feedback, and provide recommendations on next steps. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $53,800 - $91,000 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $25.77 - $43.58 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). |
