Essential Duties/Responsibilities



  • Perform engineering design, calculations, estimates, studies, and coordination of HVM facilities installation.
  • Analyze metering system compliance with CenterPoint Energy, ERCOT, PUCT, and other applicable requirements.
  • Produce ERCOT documentation including EPS (ERCOT-Polled Settlement) Metering Design Proposals in compliance with ERCOT Nodal Protocols.
  • Oversee, schedule, and indirectly supervise operational worksite activities including follow-up compliance documentation.
  • Create engineering drawings and effectively communicate design details to field personnel and contractors.
  • Create and maintain critical contacts to assure that materials, supplies, and information are available, and that information is exchanged with external/internal sources, agencies, suppliers, customers, and utilities for successful project results.
  • Review completed work orders and cost data to assure conformance with plans and acceptability of construction charges.
  • Oversee, track, evaluate, and report the resolution of meter system events.
  • Represent CenterPoint Energy in forums of regulatory development including the ERCOT MWG (Metering Working Group).



Education



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or in a related 4-year engineering degree.
  • A Professional Engineer license in the state of Texas or another state and active pursuit of a license in Texas is required.



Experience



  • Requires a minimum four (4) years of experience in a technical or engineering role for an electric transmission or distribution utility.
  • Specific experience in the design and implementation of substation revenue metering, protection relaying, or SCADA systems is preferred.
  • Able to utilize mathematics to complete basic design calculations.
  • Able to apply knowledge and experience to daily decisions.
  • Able to apply knowledge, experience, and personal judgment in the resolution of issues.
  • Able to communicate effectively with internal and external engineering and construction personnel, customers, and others in written and verbal form.
  • Able to use a personal computer (database, spreadsheet and word processing) for technical engineering applications, SAP, ProjectWise, and MicroStation.
  • Able to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Texas driver's license.
