The Group You'll Be A Part Of

The Director, Global Trade position is responsible for co-developing and managing Lam's global trade policies and programs in all countries where it does business. This includes setting and deploying company-wide trade compliance policies and guidelines and providing leadership on strategic projects that impact the supply chain to ensure proper/advantageous structuring of global transactions.

This role will manage our efforts to ensure a consistent approach to global trade strategy, management, and compliance across countries and sites. The Director will be constantly monitoring and impacting the regulatory environment within which Lam must operate, and striving to find ways in which Lam can thrive despite a potentially adverse global trade landscape.

The incumbent must have the demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, present professionally, and work collaboratively with the highest level of corporate management, as well as his/her peer group. In addition, the incumbent must have the ability to influence the operating decisions of commercial/financial management and propose global trade strategies and programs that will support Lam's global growth plans despite the challenging global trade environment. Finally, this person must have demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills, to ensure adequate career development for their direct reports.

The Impact You'll Make
  • Oversees customs/export issues worldwide.
  • Develops and implements export licensing procedures.
  • Interprets contract terms/conditions for export/import implications and provides direction in all phases of international logistics.
  • Advises functional groups of customs and export regulations.
  • Monitors license use and compliance throughout the organization.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
What You'll Do
  • Craft and drive an innovative technology-enabled global trade program that can respond quickly to the multi-faceted geopolitical environment.
  • Interact with trade-related government agencies in the United States and abroad.
  • Drive continuous process improvements to improve customer delivery, quality, operational excellence, and financial benefits associated with corporate and industry standards.
  • Define global trade best practices for both corporate and local programs and identify and support the development of capabilities needed to execute the global trade strategy.
  • Evaluate opportunities to facilitate trade in a cost-effective and compliant manner (e.g., make use of applicable free trade agreements, trade preference programs, etc.).
  • Provide strategic guidance on the incorporation of global trade requirements and opportunities into Lam's business operations.
  • Analyze the feasibility of trade flow optimization opportunities including conducting cost-benefit analyses that consider, among other things, resources, outsourcing strategies and capability requirements.
  • Monitor regulatory and legislative changes and alert the appropriate parties on the impact to the business.
  • Engage with regional senior leaders on strategies and initiatives that affect global trade, and where trade matters may impact corporate strategy.
  • Participate in periodic Global Trade Compliance Center of Excellence (COE) planning sessions.
Who We're Looking For
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in global trade compliance and strategy.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in project and team leadership.
  • Must have the ability to bring strategy to action and drive implementation of multiple programs across a global enterprise.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative and practical solutions to solve complex supply chain/logistics issues.
  • Ability to interpret government regulations and translate into strategic impact on company goals.
  • Strong negotiation skills to assist in dealing with regulatory officials and divisional/site management, both domestic and international.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customs authorities and partner government agencies on a regular basis.
  • Strong communication (both written and verbal) and presentation skills given the extensive interactions with government agencies, legal counsel, and company management.
  • Some functional knowledge of export and/or import regulations worldwide.
  • A high level of analytical ability is required to evaluate problems and determine the best solution for a particular situation. The skill should be applied in a manner which leads to acceptance of solutions and persuades and motivates those involved to implement the solution proposed.
  • Ability to foster teamwork and internal and external relationships.
  • To be effective in this role the Director must gain an understanding of governmental regulations, internal policies and procedures, and Lam's global trade operations.
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task, including a demonstrated ability to drive decision-making in a fast-paced environment with on-demand requests.
  • Ability to drive complex, cross-functional projects including setting scope, reaching consensus, executing on tasks, and presenting results.
  • High degree of flexibility and comfort with changing priorities and ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required (Finance, International Business, or related field).
  • Advanced degree/certification strongly preferred (MBA, JD, CPA). A high level of experience in global trade management may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • U.S. Customs Broker License or Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer qualification strongly preferred.

Lam offers a variety of work location models based on the needs of each role. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories - On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. 'On-site Flex' you'll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. 'Virtual Flex' you'll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.

Salary

CA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $149,000.00 -$316,000.00.

The above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role. Actual salary may vary from salary offered due to numerous factors including but not limited to unpaid time off, unpaid leave, company mandated shutdown, and other relevant factors.
