Rate of Pay:



This is a Full-Time Support Staff position at grade 14, with an annual salary range of $54,389 to $72,518. The salary offer will be based on education and experience, in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy and the current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), if applicable.

Job Summary:



An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty assisting students and veteran students, in understanding financial aid programs, regulations and processes. Work is distinguished by the ability to explain and evaluate forms to determine the completeness of each financial aid application file and to disseminate financial aid information. General supervision is received from the assigned manager.



Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:




  1. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year institution with a minimum of two years' work experience in a financial aid setting; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  2. Good knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations.
  3. Good knowledge of Veterans office requirements and the ability to remain current.
  4. Considerable skill in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Access and Publisher
  5. Considerable skill in organizing work to meet established deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.
  6. Considerable skill in interpersonal interaction to be applied to a variety of individuals with differing education, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  7. Considerable skills in verbal and written communication.
  8. Working skill in operating a personal computer, applicable software and peripheral equipment as well as learning and adapting to new and updated programs and technology.
  9. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department's needs.



Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:





Essential Duties:




  1. Determine eligibility of all state and federal aid programs, including federal loans. Collect appropriate in-district/out-of-district residency information. Explain loan counseling requirements when necessary. Re-determine student's eligibility if enrollment status changes occur.
  2. Determine Veteran student eligibility and assist with applying for benefits. Certify veteran students each semester with GI Bill benefits. Compiling and reporting all required information to the VA.
  3. Prepare the proper correspondence for students regarding the status of financial aid and document any information submitted by students in the file. Advise students concerning academic progress requirements for financial aid programs and refer students to academic counselors, if needed.
  4. Keep informed of state, federal, veteran's and campus regulations that may impact the student's eligibility for financial aid. Keep students and parents informed on regulation changes.
  5. Represent ECC Student Financial Aid Office at all high school and outreach presentations.
  6. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
  7. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  8. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  9. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  10. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality

  1. Perform other job-related duties as assigned which pertain to the job description.
  2. Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
