Summary of Position

The Procurement Specialist I performs purchasing responsibilities for higher risk of critical reagent, material, consumables, equipment, services and less complex, lower risk of common materials, consumables, office supplies, and services etc. to support cooperate operations.

We are also open to considering candidates for this position who could accommodate an on-site work schedule at our laboratory locations in Needham, MA (Boston), Alpharetta, GA (Atlanta), and El Monte, CA (Los Angeles).

Key Job Elements



  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinate with end users to determine purchasing needs and legal requirements, advising on sourcing strategies, and best practices.
  • Source suppliers, determine appropriate costs and price, maintain procurement programs, and monitor product quality based on end users' feedback.
  • Build vendor relationships to secure the best prices on products.
  • Review requisitions; make determination of appropriate acquisition procedure against existing contract/quote.
  • Preparation of purchase orders and initiate PO approval process based on the most updated cooperate level authority matrix.
  • Contribute to established goals for cost reduction and process improvements, lead the execution of the strategic sourcing methodology for requisitions.
  • Contract negotiation and contract management.


Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in disciplines such as economics, business administration, purchasing or supply chain management.
  • Minimum one (1) to three (3) years' work experience in procurement, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have 1 or more years of experience working in health care industry or clinical lab settings.


Additional Skills



  • Great work ethic and immaculate attention to detail.
  • A fast learner and be proactive and able to discover issues and report or take necessary measures immediately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to multi-tasking and manage time efficiently.
  • Experiences with an ERP system such as NetSuite is required.
  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Office especially Excel.
