Returner University Leaders play a pivotal role in deepening the impact of the University Leader Program by fostering an even stronger College Possible community on their campuses, serving as mentors to first-year University Leaders, and amplifying initiatives that drive student success. Returner University Leaders embody the principles of leadership, collaboration, and empowerment. They are responsible for further cultivating a sense of belonging among College Possible students, serving as a bridge between students, Advising Specialists, and the broader College Possible network. In this enhanced role, Returner University Leaders take ownership of key initiatives while developing advanced leadership skills, gaining exposure to higher-level project management, and engaging in personalized professional development opportunities. Returner AmeriCorps University Leader Responsibilities
- Leadership and Mentorship
- Serve as a mentor to first-year University Leaders, providing guidance, support, and peer leadership to enhance their service year experience.
- Lead and facilitate training sessions, onboarding activities, and team-building initiatives for first-year University Leaders.
- Act as a liaison between College Possible staff and University Leaders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Campus Community Engagement
- Take a leadership role in planning, coordinating, and hosting community events for College Possible students, building a thriving on-campus peer network.
- Develop innovative strategies to engage students and foster a sense of belonging within the College Possible community.
- Manage and grow the College Possible presence on social media platforms, creating compelling and relevant content that drives engagement.
- Program Growth and Recruitment
- Collaborate with College Possible staff to enhance AmeriCorps recruitment efforts on your campus, utilizing creative outreach methods and peer networks.
- Lead efforts to recruit new College Possible students into the University Leader Program, ensuring the sustainability of the initiative.
- Represent College Possible at campus events, student panels, and outreach initiatives, serving as a knowledgeable and passionate ambassador.
- Feedback and Program Development
- Actively contribute to the Student Advisory Committee by providing thoughtful feedback and recommendations to improve College Possible programming.
- Partner with the University Leaders Coordinator to evaluate and refine program initiatives, sharing insights based on your experience and student feedback.
- Participate in program improvement efforts, including developing best practices, resources, and tools for future cohorts of University Leaders.
- Advanced Leadership Opportunities
- Take on additional leadership roles within the College Possible network, such as presenting at LAUNCH, hosting campus visits, or facilitating workshops.
- Participate in advanced professional development workshops to deepen skills in public speaking, project management, and leadership
- Serve as a representative of the University Leader Program in discussions with College Possible leadership, donors, or partners.
Requirements
- Successful completion of one AmeriCorps University Leader term with College Possible.
- Must be a College Possible program participant attending University of Minnesota- Twin Cities,, University of Saint Thomas, Augsburg University, St Catherine University, Gustavus Adolphus College, Macalester College, St. Olaf College, or Carleton College
- Must be currently enrolled and plan to be enrolled through spring 2026
- Must be in good academic standing (i.e. not on probation)
- Have not completed more than two, full-time terms with an AmeriCorps State and National Program.

- Bi-weekly pay; pending final budget approvals
