Responsibilities

We are currently accepting applications for a full-time year round ESE Education Coordinator.

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides quality mental health care and education services for adolescents, ages 11-17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family and social challenges. The program establishes healthy behaviors and prepares children to transition back home.

As the ESE Educational Coordinator, the candidate will assist the Director of Education in delivering the school's mission, vision, and other strategic initiatives for both school locations. This critical position ensures that the school complies with all local, state and federal guidelines. This position writes all IEPs in the statewide Portal to Exceptional Education Resources (PEER) system, facilitate IEP meetings with parents and school district staff, and coordinates ESE services to students. Additionally, the ESE Education Coordinator manages all Education Department office operations and act as a liaison for teachers, school district personnel, and families. This includes acting as a substitute as needed, periodically working with students in the classroom, and independently managing data in the Student Information System. The position is ideal for a person wanting to learn administrative skills and procedures in preparation for a position in Educational Leadership.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Special Education or Related Field.

Certification: Exceptional Student Education (ESE) K-12

Experience Required:

  • At least three years of experience in an educational setting with students with disabilities is preferred.
  • One-year experience writing IEPS.
  • Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.

Skills:

  • Ability to write Individual Educational Plans (IEPs), schedule and facilitate meetings and coordinate services for ESE students.
  • Understanding of K-12 Public School and ESE programs
  • Knowledge and efficient management of various data management systems, computer programs and office tasks
  • Ability to analyze data and use data-driven decision making
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form using positive interpersonal skills with students, families, school district staff regarding provision of services to students and families
  • Independently utilize effective data-based problem-solving skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage work assignments in an efficient manner and within established timeframes
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others and facilitate groups to consensus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences, orally and in writing, including electronic media.
