Responsibilities

A Financial Advocate collaborates with the front-end teams and clinicians, acting as a subject matter expert on complex healthcare financial matters. They assist patients nationwide, from admit through their discharge from services, in navigating treatment costs, insurance coverage, claims processes, benefit inquiries, insurance changes, denials, and collection guidelines. A deep understanding of insurance and general knowledge of workflows of related departments is essential. Throughout their work, the Financial Advocate maintains strict attention to detail, always ensuring integrity and confidentiality.

  • Patient Financial Education
  • Input accurate and prompt documentation into the EHR
  • Maintaining a collaborative relationship with multidisciplinary teams
  • Ensure Revenue Integrity

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • 2 years or more of healthcare or insurance experience
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare billing and insurance practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to patients.
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Attention to detail in handling patient accounts and insurance information.
  • Ability to work with patient management, financial software, and Microsoft office including excel
  • Current CPR certification or obtain within 30 days.
    • Certification must be from American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree
  • Knowledge of multiple health insurance plans
  • Front end patient facing or patient supporting roles and knowledge (Financial Advocate, Patient Access, Verification of Benefits, Prior Authorization). Working directly with a patient population regarding insurance and finances.
  • Experience working in a virtual environment
