We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated ColdFusion Developer to join the team. This position plays a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing a robust knowledge management system on the client's intranet, which streamlines the retention and referencing of critical IT processes, procedures, and best practices. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in ColdFusion development, back-end system architecture, and front-end technologies, enabling the creation of scalable and user-friendly solutions that meet organizational standards, including Section 508 accessibility compliance. In addition to technical development, the role involves project management responsibilities for high-impact initiatives, drafting and maintaining standard operating procedures, addressing unplanned outages, and providing technical leadership aligned with the Enterprise Performance Lifecycle (EPLC) framework. As a key contributor, the developer will collaborate with stakeholders, evaluate and recommend new tools or platforms, and ensure seamless integration with existing systems such as Jira and Confluence.

Key Responsibilities

ColdFusion Development



  • Develop, maintain, and enhance a knowledge management system using ColdFusion.
  • Integrate the system with platforms like Jira and Confluence, ensuring seamless compatibility and potential migration support.
  • Monitor and resolve unplanned outages for ColdFusion-based systems, providing timely updates and notifications.
  • Debug and optimize ColdFusion applications for better performance, leveraging tools like TestBox for unit testing.
  • Implement ColdFusion extensions such as ColdBox, FW/1, or Fusebox to extend functionality.


Backend Development



  • Design, optimize, and manage databases like MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle.
  • Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and implement ORM frameworks (e.g., Hibernate).
  • Build and maintain RESTful and SOAP web services to enable dynamic back-end functionality.
  • Ensure secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities like SQL injection, XSS, and CSRF.
  • Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms such as OAuth and JWT.
  • Evaluate and recommend back-end tools or platforms with detailed cost-benefit analyses.


Front-End Development



  • Utilize web development technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to build engaging user interfaces.
  • Integrate modern front-end frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, or Vue.js) for enhanced interactivity.
  • Incorporate APIs and use AJAX to enable dynamic content updates and seamless user experiences.
  • Ensure all front-end deliverables are compliant with Section 508 accessibility standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align the front-end user experience with project goals and user needs.


Requirements



  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in ColdFusion development and maintenance, including proficiency in CFML, CFCs, and custom tags.
  • 3+ years of experience in database management, including SQL query optimization and ORM frameworks.
  • 3+ years of experience in front-end development, utilizing HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks.
  • 3+ years of experience in building and maintaining RESTful or SOAP web services.
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile methodologies, project management, and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.


Technical Skills



  • Proficiency in ColdFusion (Adobe or Lucee) and CFML.
  • Strong understanding of secure coding practices and performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards and compliance.


Soft Skills



  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities for technical and non-technical stakeholders.


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $114,100 to $143,800 per year benchmarked in the Durham, North Carolina area. The target salary is $127,500. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
