About the Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines at the Georgia Institute of Technology

The depth and breadth of IRIM breaks through disciplinary boundaries and allows for transformative research that transitions from theory to robustly deployed systems featuring next-generation robots. Job Summary

We are seeking a diligent Data Manager to manage a large research data repository for the AI-CARING Institute. The Data Manager will establish and manage all repository operating procedures, including procedures for researchers contributing data to and accessing data from the repository.

The Data Manager's responsibilities will include establishing Repository Submittal and Sharing agreements, executing Data Sharing agreements, and ensuring the security and confidentiality of data during storage in the repository and transfer to a recipient researcher. The Data Manager will ensure that all procedures are in compliance with the Repository's Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol.

The ideal candidate is detail oriented, has strong organizational skills, and previous experience executing research data curation and management workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish the infrastructure of the repository and repository operating procedures, including processes for researchers submitting and accessing data in the repository.
  • Review Repository Submittal and Sharing agreements to ensure human subjects data are obtained and released in accordance with IRB approved repository protocol.
  • Execute a Data Sharing Agreement each time data is released for research purposes.
  • Review data submitted to the Repository to ensure that they are complete and have been appropriately de-identified per the Submittal agreement.
  • Identify data that have limitations on future uses and ensure that future uses are not contrary to those limits.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of materials and data during storage in the repository and during transfer to a recipient researcher.
  • Track acquisition of materials and data and their release to a recipient researcher.
  • Maintain methods for identifying data for which consent has been withdrawn and ensuring there will be no future use.
Required Qualifications

This position vacancy is an open rank announcement. Research Scientist I

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or related field

Research Scientist II

  • A Master's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or related field, and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or
  • A Master's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology or related field, and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree.
Preferred Qualifications

Masters or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology or related field

This is a part time position with an expectation of up to 20 hours per week. This position is not benefits eligible.
