I. Major Responsibilities:

1. Calls patients for the next day's surgeries. Coordinates patient schedules with the O.R., Front Desk and Booking Office. Prepares patient charts, verifies information, and assembles records from Admitting and Pre-Admission Testing. Prepares O.R. Pre-op paperwork, checklists, and validates patient documentation with physicians' offices. Obtains existing previous Medical Records for scheduled patients.
2. Coordinates the O.R, schedule with Admitting, Registration, the O.R. Booking Office and front desk for information related to patient care. For unexpected patients, contacts Patient Registration and Admitting. Obtains demographic information including medical record number, physician and attending physician. Calls all patients to relay information and time of procedure.
3. At the beginning of the day, coordinates the record for the day of the OR/Procedure. Arrives and greets patients for scheduled procedures. Arranges for ancillary services including Interpreter Services as needed.
4. Coordinates patient flow with the OR and procedural areas. Receives and directs phone calls from patients and physician offices.
5. Handles urgent patient care calls according to department protocol. May alert providers to emergent patient care symptoms and concerns. Connects the patient's call to the provider or responds to the patient and takes messages as directed.

II. Position Qualifications:

Required:
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
Preferred:

Experience/Skills:

Required:
1. 1 year of related experience, preferably in a patient care setting.
2. The ability to use specialized applications software and computer systems for patient registration.

3. Basic knowledge of business office procedures.
4. Basic knowledge of medical terminology
5. Knowledge of third-party payer billing and managed care requirements and procedures.
Preferred:

Hours will be Thursday and Friday from 5am-5:30pm
