ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Field Reimbursement Director (FRD) plays a crucial role in ensuring timely access to ziftomenib for patients after they have been prescribed. This position is responsible for working directly with healthcare providers, payers, Kura's distribution partners and other stakeholders to overcome reimbursement barriers. The FRD will ensure that patients have access to necessary treatments while facilitating seamless reimbursement processes in a complex healthcare environment.



  • Leadership and Team Management:


    • Work collaboratively with Kura field leadership to define clear roles & responsibilities and ways of working
    • Assist Kura's training team to develop appropriate Reimbursement and Access training for the Kura field sales team
    • Work closely with Kura's access and distribution operations director to identify process improvements.


  • Reimbursement Support:


    • Lead reimbursement support for healthcare providers and patients, addressing and resolving payer-related issues and reimbursement obstacles.
    • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for all payer policies, coding, and billing requirements specific to Kura's product portfolio.
    • Assist healthcare providers in navigating the reimbursement process, ensuring that claims are filed timely.
    • Work compliantly with fulfilling pharmacy to quickly identify and resolve access barriers


  • Strategic Collaboration:


    • Collaborate cross-functionally with market access, sales, legal, and compliance teams to ensure alignment in field strategies.
    • Work closely with payer and provider accounts to manage and resolve reimbursement issues, including prior authorization, denials, and appeals.
    • Provide input and recommendations on payer policy changes, trends, and regulations to inform business decisions.
    • Lead without authority to ensure the field sales team has the information and resources available to be effective account managers to their customers


  • Stakeholder Engagement:


    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including payers, healthcare providers, and third-party vendors.
    • Serve as a key point of contact for field-based reimbursement issues and inquiries, facilitating communication between internal teams and external partners.
    • Coaching field sales teams on front line reimbursement problem solving skills.


  • Reporting and Documentation:


    • Maintain compliant records of reimbursement interactions, outcomes, and follow-up actions.
    • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on reimbursement trends, challenges, and the impact on product access.
    • Ensure that all activities comply with regulatory requirements and corporate policies.


  • Market Intelligence:


    • Monitor reimbursement trends, payer policy changes, and market dynamics to ensure proactive solutions and strategies.
    • Support the development of educational materials and training programs for internal and external stakeholders on reimbursement topics.



JOB SPECIFICATIONS:



  • Education:


    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Pharmacy, Nursing, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or other) preferred.


  • Experience:


    • At least 15+ years of experience in reimbursement, market access, or related areas within the healthcare industry, with a focus on Oncology.
    • Experience building functionality/ capability in a fast-paced environment.
    • In-depth knowledge of payer systems, reimbursement processes, and healthcare regulations (e.g., CMS, Medicaid, commercial payers).
    • Proven success in overcoming reimbursement barriers and facilitating patient access to therapies.
    • Experience managing teams, preferably field reimbursement or managed care/ reimbursement related


  • Skills & Competencies:


    • Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage, coach, and motivate a team.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively with senior management, healthcare providers, and external partners.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret reimbursement data and trends.
    • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.


  • Technical Proficiency:


    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
    • capable of learning/ using custom software used to track patient journey insights.



  • Additional Information:

    • Travel requirements: 60 % travel anticipated
    • This position may require working outside of traditional business hours, depending on the needs of the market.




The base range for a Director is $210,000 - $246,000 per year. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation, job-related skills, experience, work location, and relevant education or training. Kura's compensation package also includes generous benefits, equity, and participation in an annual target bonus.

Tipifarnib, a potent and selective farnesyl transferase inhibitor (FTI), is currently in a Phase 1/2 trial in combination with alpelisib for patients with PIK3CA-dependent head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (KURRENT-HN).
