About the opportunity

SWCA seeks a Service Line Director, to join our Sustainability & Management Consulting (SMC) team. This leadership role will focus on growing SWCA's sustainability risk, resilience and adaptation strategic services and will be filled by an individual who has demonstrated client leadership capabilities and strong business development skills. The selected candidate will be a seasoned professional with a proven track record in leading sustainability projects, developing client relationships, and integrating sustainability and resilience considerations into our customer's business strategies.

This is a full-time (with benefits) salaried exempt position. The position is open/flexible to all locations. Hybrid or distributed (remote) work environments will be available.

What you will accomplish

Lead SMC's Sustainability Risk, Resilience & Adaptation Strategic Offerings

  • Guide the development and delivery of SMC's strategic resilience and adaptation services. These include (but are not limited to) identification/quantification of material sustainability issues, risks and/or opportunities; strategies to effectively address these matters; and the development/
    deployment of initiatives to help clients manage/mitigate relevant risks, pursue compelling
    opportunities and/or help clients improve resilience to the physical and transitional impacts of changing environmental and/or social conditions impacting business sustainability and resilience.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and promote thought leadership (through speaking engagements, informative social media posts, publications, etc.) in practices that improve business sustainability and resilience.
  • Stay abreast of the latest trends, technologies, and government policies/legal requirements related to environment and social risk/opportunities that affect business sustainability and resilience.
  • Serve as an ambassador for SWCA's Safety Culture and implementation.

Pursue/Develop Risk, Resilience & Adaptation Management Consulting Business

  • Identify and pursue new clients and opportunities related to strategic sustainability risk, resilience and adaptation services with a goal of contributing at least $500K of sales annually.
  • Prepare and present compelling concepts and proposals that address prospect and client challenges related to environmental/social risk, resilience and adaptation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospects and clients to monitor/understand current and future needs. From these insights, conceptualize and direct innovations of relevant SWCA offerings/solutions.

Provide Expertise & Contribute Senior Leadership During Service Delivery

  • Contribute senior, expert-level guidance to project delivery teams.
  • Direct sustainability risk, resilience and adaptation-related management consulting projects. Lead and direct cross-functional teams to deliver quality outputs and outcomes in accordance the specified scope of work, schedule and budget associated with these projects.
  • Maintain high-level, principal point-of-contact with client leaders during the duration of project engagements.
  • Maintain 25% or greater utilization on client projects.

Manage/Maintain Client Relationships

  • Develop a portfolio of accounts, serving as the primary point of contact with senior client contacts.
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships, fostering trust and collaboration.
  • Provide exceptional service delivery, maintaining high levels of awareness on ongoing projects and proposals, and addressing any issues/concerns to ensure successful project/account outcomes.

Experience and qualifications for success

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Climate Science, or a related field.
  • Ten (10) years of experience in strategic sustainability management consulting for clients in the private sector.
  • Recognized leadership expertise and an established reputation (personal brand) in sustainability consulting. Proven track record in leading sustainability projects and initiatives.
  • Extensive experience in business development and demonstrable skills/track record of highly successful client relationship management.
  • Adept at leveraging technical solutions to create business or economic value for clients.
  • Experience/expertise on global policies/policy development, especially in jurisdictions with advanced requirements related to business sustainability and resilience (e.g., European Union, California, etc.).
  • Applicants must have valid driver's license and be able to meet SWCA's driver requirements.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Climate Science, or a related field.
  • In addition to English, Spanish or other language proficiency is highly desirable.

An employee in this position can expect an annual salary of $147,026.88 - $221,972.40. Actual pay within this range may depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law. Regular-status employees are also eligible for performance bonuses.
