Travel:
Substantial travel (50%) to our facility in Springfield, MA will be required during first 6 months. Periodic travel will be required throughout employment.

Scope of job - Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. The position will recommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controls. It will also coordinate manufacturing launch for new or revised products. Priorities include process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training.

Education and Experience:



  • Must have a Bachelor's degree (BSME) or equivalent
  • 5+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment (preferably in the firearms industry)


Competencies and Skills:



  • Strong understanding of lean principles
  • Specific knowledge in drawing interpretation and standards (GD & T)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and complete multiple projects and objectives successfully
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, with the ability to influence individuals and groups at all levels of our organization with effective interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Works with minimal supervision, establish priority and meet scheduled completion dates.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Must be able to read, write and interpret the English language
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • SolidWorks and or CAM knowledge a plus
  • CMM programming & PC-DMIS a plus
  • Experience creating custom applications and GUI's with Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Experience with stored procedures and database design in Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with basic webpage scripting


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Supplier Quality Engineer



  • Establish quality management systems based in prevention, utilizing capability studies, process FMEA, SPC, DoE, gage R&R, and other quality tools as required.
  • Drive and Facilitate formal, hands-on Root Cause and Corrective Action activity.
  • Must be able to interpret solid models and interpret complex part drawings and understand product design intent. Use and understand ASME Y14.5 2009 impact on designs and drawing tolerances.
  • Support manufacturing/assembly to ensure supplier quality issues are quickly identified on the production floor, communicated to the supplier and corrective action is verified with the supplier.
  • Conduct supplier quality audits to add value to both the supplier and accurately assess the health, consistency, reliability and overall performance of the supplier.
  • Provide supplier quality oversight, analysis, and performance tracking
  • A genuine belief in continuous improvement and disciplined processes, with a willingness to analyze, challenge and change processes, if needed, to create a more efficient environment and culture

  • Works in an office environment and a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:



  • Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor


The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
