Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: St. Louis MO

Duration: 8 months

Job description:

Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, agronomy, or related field preferred. Knowledge of various aspects of growing and maintaining plants, including weeds and crops is highly desired. This individual must possess good observational skills, be familiar with plant needs and be able to recognize stress or unusual growth conditions.

A high degree of diligence, and accuracy is required to achieve high quality results in a safe and prudent manner. Candidates must be flexible and adaptable, to respond to team priorities. Familiarity and working knowledge of MS Excel and Outlook is required as is the ability to learn and use other computer databases and programs.
Perform duties in a greenhouse environment such as seeding, watering, thinning of plants, moving of plants and assist with spraying of plants. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a greenhouse environment. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job safely.

Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Must be able to lift to 35 lbs. Ability to manage exposure to dust, pollen and work in elevated temperatures. Ability to work extended time on your feet, weekend responsibilities possible. POSITION SUMMARY
In line with the global strategy and business objectives of Crop Science worldwide, including Field Solutions NA to manage an expedient and accurate global distribution of samples to various external and internal customers for the purpose of evaluating NA and Global Development studies to support new and re-registration of products.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Processing Sample Orders via the Sample Logistics Apps.
  • Prepare Sample Orders for shipping and attach appropriate SDS(s).
  • Scan each sample order and its samples for packaging into shipping container, complete the shipping process according to IATA and/or DOT regulations and file the shipping documents.
  • Assist in completing international shipments and communicating shipping details.
  • Physically conduct and reconcile sample inventories (current, bulk and GLP) in the Sample Logistics Apps. And create Excel inventory reports.
  • Responsible for receiving packages for the Sample Logistics team and maintaining accurate records for future references.
  • Main the archive Certificate of Analysis for GLP samples.
  • Assist in overseeing the restricted GLP cage area where GLP samples are maintained and secured according to GLP regulations.
  • Sub-filling sample container adhering to all HSE, SDS and site safety policies. Apply FIFRA research sample labels, and stickers according to process orders. Scan samples into the inventory and complete process order.
  • Ability to identify questionable test substances based on appearance and consult Sample Logistics manager.
  • Maintain, update and archive Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for the Sample Logistics Inventory, retrieving SDS from Global QHSE database, other Ag manufactures/suppliers databases.
  • Maintain bulk inventory with appropriate labels, scan to physical location and place containers on appropriated shelves.
  • Assist in ordering, receiving, and organizing supplies in their designated areas for the Sample Logistics team.
  • Assist the sample logistics team with other duties as requested.
  • Complete all trainings including IATA and DOT trainings.
  • Report to and notified the Sample Logistics designated person of any discrepancies with orders, computer and application problems, and other issues that may arise with the samples process.

    REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
    Education Requirement(s):

  • Associate degree or its equivalent and 0-3 years of related experience
  • Preferred Degree in the Science field

    Skill & Competency Requirements: (list 3 to 5 non-negotiable items such as years of experience, industry of preference, specific knowledge items, professional certifications, skills, abilities, etc.)

  • Knowledge of working with pesticides and laboratory experience.
  • Experience working with balances/scales and excellent math skills
  • Knowledge and experience in understanding Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
  • Bar code scanning knowledge
  • Able to handle work at a fast pace
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
