Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate within the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Division of the Rutgers Cancer Institute.

The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for leading research investigations in the malignant transformation of neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1)-associated nerve sheath tumors, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. The Postdoctoral Associate will design, conduct, and execute research experiments and draft written reports to be included in peer-reviewed manuscripts. The Postdoctoral Associate will also be responsible for participating in the planning, development, and implementation of laboratory and research studies as assigned and approved by the Principal Investigator. In addition, the Postdoctoral Associate will contribute to the Principal Investigator's grant proposals and write grant proposals on her/his own to acquire funding.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

  • Designs, executes, and analyzes research experiments relevant to the field of cancer biology and pediatric sarcoma, under the direction of Principal Investigator. May use animal models and clinical specimens collected from patients.
  • Under the direction of the Principal Investigator: investigates, reviews, modifies, develops, and tests new analytical procedures and methodologies.
  • Contributes written reports in the format of peer-reviewed manuscripts and grant proposal, in a timely manner.
  • Contributes to writing research protocols and protocol amendments as required for IRB and IACUC approval.
  • Keeps detailed records of experimental procedures.
  • Assists the Principal Investigator with development and writing of research grant proposals.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience

  • Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate degree in Cancer Biology, Precision Cancer Medicine, or a relevant biomedical science.
  • Experience in animal work, molecular biology techniques, cancer biology, epigenetics, pediatric solid tumor, and working with patient samples and large datasets is required.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must possess effective written and oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively is also essential.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of bioinformatics and hands-on experience with next generation sequencing data analysis.
