The Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center at the University of Virginia's (UVA) School of Medicine seeks candidates for a Lab Tech 2 to participate in studies of the role of clonal hematopoiesis in age-related diseases. This position provides scientific/technical support to a large cardiovascular research laboratory consisting of a mixture of graduate and undergraduate students, post-doctoral fellows, clinical fellows, and technical staff. The tasks involve a combination of interfacing with clinicians and the coordination of activities involving ultra-deep DNA sequencing to examine the associations between somatic mutations and disease features in patient cohorts. This position is ideal for an individual who wants to gain clinically relevant research experience prior to entering graduate or medical school. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Associate's degree. Experience: At least 2 years of lab experience, which may include student, experience. Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
