You are an experienced culinary professional with a passion for delivering exceptional food in a dynamic, high-volume environment. You thrive under pressure and are skilled in both managing operations and leading a diverse team. As a Banquet Chef, you have a deep understanding of kitchen operations and banquet service, with a focus on high-quality, scratch-made dishes. You bring a collaborative mindset, enjoy mentoring others, and are committed to ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly, efficiently, and always with an eye for perfection. The Role:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Banquet Chef to join our culinary team at The MC Hotel. In this role, you will report to the Executive Chef and Executive Sous Chef, playing a key part in the execution of banquet and event food preparation. You will help craft and execute dishes for large-scale events, banquets, and catering, maintaining high culinary standards while ensuring consistency, creativity, and efficiency. You will also be responsible for:
- Leading a team in preparing and serving exceptional banquet food, ensuring quality standards are met for every event.
- Coordinating with other departments such as Sales, Banquets & Catering, Food & Beverage, and Hotel Operations to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
- Ensuring smooth kitchen operations during high-volume service, including maintaining cleanliness, managing inventory, and meeting budgetary goals.
- Mentoring and coaching team members to promote both individual and collective growth within the kitchen.
How You Lead:
- Provide hands-on leadership for the banquet kitchen team through coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback.
- Work closely with various hotel departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences, maintaining high culinary standards and precision.
- Model professionalism and respect in your interactions with managers, team members, and peers, fostering a collaborative, team-oriented kitchen environment.
- Develop your business acumen by managing operational initiatives in line with budgetary goals and culinary standards.
What You Will Need:
- 3+ years of progressive culinary experience, ideally in a banquet, multi-service hotel, or fine dining restaurant.
- A passion for the culinary arts with experience across a wide range of cuisines.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with staff and other departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word for creating reports and managing spreadsheets.
- Ability to perform basic math for recipe adjustments and inventory management.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment while maintaining quality and efficiency under pressure.
- Physical ability to lift, balance, and carry up to 25 lbs. (and up to 100 lbs. with assistance) when handling inventory and equipment.
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods and endure warm to hot environments while using kitchen equipment such as ovens and fryers.
