The Learning & Skill Development (LSD) organization is crucial in fostering a digital culture across the Commercial and Medical Group (CMG), ensuring that all CMG customers, including employees, managers, healthcare providers, and patients, access timely information and skills. LSD is transforming CMG into a continuous learning culture through innovative approaches in skills management, digital, experiential, and workflow learning. The organization comprises learning business partners with deep business insights, Learning Design Architects focusing on medical, leadership, and business transformation areas, and instructional designers and multimedia partners creating top-tier learning products. These products are scaled by facilitators, learning technologists, and an analytics team that ties skill development to business impact metrics.

Role Overview

The Data Informatics Analyst role has significant hands-on experience developing predictive models and a strong track record in designing experiments, driving organizational measurement strategies, and building Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) driven applications and products. The role will be responsible for and own the delivery of delivering predictive models to anticipate future skills needed across the organization to deliver on business outcomes, and to develop automated scalable approaches to connect the learning dataset with business and people data to demonstrate the connection to individual and organizational performance. This will include utilizing a large range of data sources (both structured and unstructured) as well as AI/ML algorithms to find patterns and automate the process of forecasting future skills needs. The Data Informatics Analyst candidate has a strong bias for action, is able to operate independently, and is a great communicator, innovator, and visionary.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Science (AI/ML)

  • Manage and guide data science and data engineering for AI/ML projects; develop and train AI/machine learning models for high predictive accuracy.

  • Apply ML and applied statistics to complex business, learning, and talent-related questions; identify and/or create useful datasets for analysis.

Data Infrastructure & Engineering
  • Define and enhance ETL pipeline processes and develop robust data infrastructure for multiple data sources, focusing on xAPI data; manage folder structures for storing and ingesting text and images.

  • Coordinate data ingestion, storage, transformation, and visualization; create automated scripts to improve daily activities and set up data storage solutions for field certification data.

Platform & Tools Management

  • Evaluate and establish new connections to Watershed during Snowflake migration; test and ensure smooth Workday API connection with Watershed.

  • Support the transition from Degreed to EdCast for LXP platform; enable Dataiku features, create direct links to Tableau, build data logic and tables for dashboards, and manage permissions to dashboards and associated data.

Stakeholder Engagement & Strategic Implementation

  • Help stakeholders define impactful business priorities using expertise and existing research, design measurement strategies for key enablement metrics, and provide thought partnership and advisory support to relevant teams.

  • Adopt an enterprise mindset to link individual responsibilities with the broader organization, openly share perspectives and insights to elevate team thinking, and exemplify the Operating Principles in all aspects of work.

Compliance & Best Practices

  • Enforce FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) practices; Comply with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Collaborate with Oasis Infrastructure/compliance for data engineering support

Minimum Required Qualifications/Experience:

  • Master's degree in relevant discipline (Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering)

  • 7+ years of relevant industry work experience

  • 3+ years experience in NLP and Text Analytics application to enterprise data

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL.

  • Experience with cloud-computing platforms like AWS and GCP, and cloud-based object storage.

  • Strong knowledge of learning record stores, business data, HR systems, and expertise in xAPI statements within Storyline.

  • Expertise in ML applications such as revenue attribution, text classification, clustering, and API integration experience.

  • Proficiency with data visualization tools like Tableau, Qlik, and alternative tools such as Spotfire, PowerBI, Rshiny; experience with version control platforms such as GitHub and BitBucket.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in NLP, Deep Learning, Applied Statistics, Causal Inference, handling large complex datasets, and using statistical software; strong knowledge of relational databases, data transformation engines, and proficiency in creating and executing cron jobs.

Location

  • This position is based in South San Francisco, CA and offers a hybrid schedule working 3 days per week on campus

  • Relocation assistance is not available at this time

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $150,200 - $279,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
