Overview

The Field Engineer possesses problem-solving, analytical and communication skills, in addition to technical knowledge of systems hardware and software. This positon is considered a critical point of escalation for all aspects of WAN/LAN network troubleshooting, development, implementation, and support of the enterprise environment.

Responsibilities

    Oversee the engineering process and the deployment of Wireless Access Points, Point-to-Point Antennas, Cellular Gateways and other wireless communication systems.
  • Assist with technical oversight of a multi-site enterprise level WAN, including planning, implementation/expansion, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical documentation of RF infrastructure and review design changes of solutions.
  • Oversee the installation of network infrastructure cabling for new business growth and development projects, including low-voltage wiring when necessary.
  • Collaborate with TEC Development during new-site, remodel and facility upgrade requirements, to meet the needs of TEC IT gear - both, AC circuit delivery & low-voltage DC requirements.
  • Partner with Internet Service Providers to procure and competitively shop circuits.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of VoIP, eFAX, Camera & Copier solutions.
  • Perform high-level root cause analysis for service interruption recovery.
  • Balance competing requirements between projects, maintenance, and escalations.
  • Engage with Engineers and Managers to support new wireless network offerings.
  • Research and recommend approaches for system administration tasks and training regimens.
  • Work a modified schedule as needed to perform after-hours maintenance/deployments of new software or hardware.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a telecommunications role and systems environment (Networking, IT, Facility, RF/DAS, Wireless).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally to all levels of staff and management.
  • Advanced understanding of a distributed RF environment.
  • In-depth understanding of networking - routing, subnets, DHCP, UDP, TCP, IP and VLANs.
  • Ability to control multiple projects and priorities with careful time management and little supervision.
