Job Description

The Outpatient Pharmacist provides quality pharmaceutical services to inpatients, outpatients, employees and the general public. Provides education, information, and advice to physicians, nurses, and other health care professionals on the use, selection, dosage, and administration of medications. Effectively supervises support personnel and performs tasks as assigned by the pharmacist-in-charge and/or pharmacy manager.

DUTIES:

Provides comprehensive patient care to customers.

Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.

Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.

Provides friendly and efficient pharmaceutical care to customers, including processing and accurately dispensing prescription orders, counseling customers regarding health care and prescription medication needs, maintaining confidential information, maintaining controlled medication and required documentation.

Prepares and dispenses medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.

Controls medication by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions.

Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technician workflows; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying orders entries, charges, and inspections.

Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and request of patients and health care professionals.

Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions and clinical services (i.e. Meds to bed program, Emergency department pharmacy services, etc.).

Responsible and accountable for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collects and handles payments as required.

Takes customer to OTC aisle to assist in locating products.

Maintains store and pharmacy inventory and removes outdated/damaged drugs from pharmacy inventory.

Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks and results as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD degree, or equivalent FPGE (NABP)

2. Minimum two (2) years current outpatient retail pharmacy experience.

3. Ability to work in teams, and ensuring timely completion of assigned work requirements.

4. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse customer group.

5. Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.

6. Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations, and standards regarding the provision of pharmacy services.

License/Certification/Registration Requirements

1. Current ACTIVE California Pharmacist License

2. National Provider Identifier (NPI) number

3. Completion of an ACPE Accredited or Board of Pharmacy approved Immunization training program

4. Basic Lifesaving Certification - American Heart Association

Salary Range:

$90.21 - $104.09 USD Hourly
