Overview

Presbyterian is seeking a Clinical Dietitian to provide direct patient care to an assigned group of patients in an Outpatient Clinic. The Clinical Dietitian works closely with the medical and interdisciplinary team to provide nutrition screening and assessment, nutrition diagnosis, developing and implementing nutrition interventions, nutrition education of patients and families, and monitoring and evaluating patient progress at various stages of treatment and/or recurrence. Population served may include oncology, surgical and metabolic weight loss programs or other.

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (1.0 FTE/40 hours per week)

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8-hour days

Qualifications

  • Licensed Dietitian-NM Reg & License (LD-NM RL)
  • Registered Dietitian (RD)
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • BLS Certification required at time of hire.


Responsibilities

  • Provides nutrition counseling based on individual needs, evaluates patient/family knowledge and readiness to learn using effective interview methods
  • Collaborates closely with medical and surgical providers to establish care pathways for individualized care
  • Provides medical nutrition therapy in accordance with federal requirements set forth under Centers for Medicaid/Medicare in order to receive Medicare/Medicaid payment.
  • Assists with achieving compliance with other accrediting agency's standards to continuously improve safety and quality of patient care.
  • Participates in the orientation and serves as preceptor/trainer of students and new dietitians.
  • Teaches nutrition and healthy eating classes to patients and/or community groups which may include evenings or weekends.
  • Participates or leads patient support groups which may include evenings or weekends.
  • Selects nutrition intervention strategies to affect nutritional intake, nutrition-related behavior, environmental conditions, or access to supportive care and services.
  • Performs other functions as required.
