Essential Job Responsibilities:

The Director-Technology and Innovation key responsibilities include identifying emerging trends, developing strategic innovation initiatives, and integrating cutting-edge solutions to maintain competitive advantage for the terminal operations across the global Carrix organization. As the Director, you will lead technology strategy across divisions, with a particular focus on operational technology standardization and innovation. This role will play a critical part in driving the digital transformation, reporting directly into our Engineering group and will collaborate closely with our Carrix IT & S organization. Additionally, this position will oversee the delivery of our operations and ensuring the seamless integration of new technologies. This leader will also partner with the business, fellow leaders and vendors in the overall planning and management of the services.



  • The role will formally report into our Engineering department with a dotted line to our Carrix IT team.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive operational technology strategy that aligns with Carrix's business goals and objectives.
  • Lead the standardization of operational technology across all terminals and facilities to ensure consistency, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Drive innovation by identifying and implementing cutting-edge technologies that enhance operational performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and IT, to ensure the successful deployment and integration of new technologies.
  • Oversee the management of technology infrastructure, OT environment, including the Terminal Operating System, ensuring it is robust, secure, and scalable to meet the company's needs.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the technology team.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to keep Carrix at the forefront of technological advancements.
  • Manage relationships with technology vendors and partners to ensure the best solutions and services are procured.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the technology team, promoting professional development and growth.
  • Work with the leadership team on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources, including budget and work with key stakeholders to measure and prioritize technical debt remediation.
  • Drive alignment of Technology Infrastructure strategies to the organization's environmental, social and governance goals.
  • Overall responsibility for the quality of infrastructure production activities.
  • Measuring and reporting on the impact of innovation initiatives, including performance metrics and ROI.
  • Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team to ensure Technology Infrastructure contributes to, embraces, and applies security strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or certification in computer science, engineering or equivalent experience in applicable field required. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of proven work experience in a senior technology leadership role, preferably within the maritime or logistics industry.
  • Strong knowledge of operational technology and experience in standardizing and implementing technology solutions across multiple sites.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and lead digital transformation initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Spanish fluency is a plus.
  • Experience as an advisor to executive and senior leadership teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering on a technology solutions agenda that contributed to a culture of creativity, entrepreneurship and excellence.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, collaboration, project management, problem-solving, change management and influencing skills.
  • Ability to connect and communicate with a wide range of people and teams and can provide clear directions and expectations to both business leaders and technical resources.
  • Ability to adapt to change quickly and work comfortably with ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, readily connecting with others and able to build and sustain relationships at multiple levels in the organization.
