If you're interested in becoming a Valve Repair Technician, then we have an exciting opportunity for you. Under general supervision position reports to Operational Leadership. Position completes disassembly, re-assembly, test, part re-use evaluation, diagnosis, and correction of problems. Position completes warranty and/or repair of inactive products, current production products and customer owned products. Position requires limited internal customer interface with engineering to provide support in troubleshooting product and process problems, product warranty evaluation, work estimation.

What you will be doing...

  • Receives customer product returns, makes decisions on product dispositions; use, upgrade or replace

  • Provide detailed dis-assembly report and documentation with pictures per customer request

  • Conduct disassembly in support of cost estimation; may review catalogue component pricing

  • May participate in continuous improvement activities

  • Prepare basic reports (e.g.- investigation reports, tear-down reports) for Engineering (e.g. - Product Engineering) and other stakeholders (including customer)

  • Complete test as received with consideration for product and safety related observations, avoiding damage to product

  • Perform flat rate repair, basic disassembly, and evaluation of components, returning product to usable condition

  • Utilizes flat rate sheet for pricing reference purposes to facilitate the repair and communication required

  • Evaluate and trouble-shoot for root cause of failure as initial point of product analysis. Compare findings against standards; elevate as needed in pursuit of conclusions

  • Completes applicable sections of Warranty/Repair Reports on returns and sign-off on in OEINVST

  • Assists with the setup of necessary repairs and tests

  • Communicate directly with engineering on evaluation findings; may include written documentation and/or pictures of product

What we are looking for...

  • High School Diploma Or equivalent required

  • 2-5 years Related work experience required

  • Moderate physical activity requiring agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, or bending; and lifting or moving objects. Work is performed in area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require special safety precautions, such as wearing protective clothing or gear. May be required to pass Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations.

  • May provide basic technical information in support of communication to customer, on usability of obsolete product transitioning to replacement product

  • May review inventory exchange pool; may request an order to master scheduling for additional inventory

  • May partner with CSR team to respond to independent customer inquiries. May gather material and labor data from WISE to support CSR response to customers

  • May participate in assessment of recommendations for engineering repair or remanufacturing decisions

  • May participate in collaboration with engineering to make decisions on strategy and scope of repair

  • Basic ability to diagnose product condition as known or new condition by utilizing formal acceptance criteria catalogue or historical data on product or issue

  • Ability to follow work instructions (such as PowerPoint, MIS, EFMS, BDDS, AP's (assembly procedures), some legacy products have paper build books

  • Basic knowledge of root cause or failure analysis toolsBasic knowledge of root cause or failure analysis tools

  • Basic technical product knowledge to identify contributing factors to component failure in field

  • Ability to read multiple types of technical documentation (i.e. schematics, build books, bills of materials) in order to effectively complete basic repairs

  • Basic computer skills including ability to learn and use various software packages and locate documentation (EFMS, WISE)

  • Applies limited independent judgment and work is regularly checked for accuracy by more experienced technicians or engineers

  • Solid applied knowledge of electro-mechanical theory and hydraulics

  • Ability to effectively communicate recommendations for updates and edits to work instructions, assembly procedures and build-books

  • Basic knowledge of a variety of Woodward products, is required
