Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Contract/Grant Specialist for the Research & Sponsored Programs. As part of Office for Research, the Research Contract / Grant Specialist (GS) provides essential services to faculty and staff to ensure external support for their research, training and public service programs.
The Office for Research's mission is to support the research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of all Rutgers faculty. The Office accomplishes its mission by convening with academic and research leaders, providing integrated, user-focused resources, services, and tools, and partnering with faculty.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Consults, advises and reviews all business / administrative / budgetary aspects of a proposal for completeness, accuracy and compliance with the Sponsor's regulatory requirements and specifications as well as with internal Rutgers policies and procedures.
- Submits proposals to all federal, state, local government, non -profit and for-profit sponsors via RAPSS, via the designated Sponsor's electronic portal, or via any other route identified by the Sponsor.
- Functions as the liaison between the Principal Investigator (PI) / Department support staff and the Sponsor for any additional clarifications, provision of documentation and response to questions issued by the Sponsor prior to the issuance of the award agreement.
- Closes and continuously communicates with the PI and his/her administrative support team to handle all post award non-financial aspects of sponsored awards, including but not limited to post award requests for prior Sponsor approvals (when needed), review of award modifications, submission of technical reports (when requested by the Sponsor), and budget revisions and reallocations.
- Reviews, negotiates and processes awards and is responsible for the Funding proposals and Awards modules of the Rutgers Research Administration and Proposal Submission System (RAPSS), as well as for the accuracy and integrity of the information entered, as RAPSS functions is the Rutgers database for research non-financial research administration.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Five years total administrative work experience, with at least 2 of these years of experience in grants management or research administration.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Must be knowledgeable of basic sponsor policies and procedures.
- Familiarity with Office Suite (Work, Excel, Powerpoint) and other business software applications pertaining to grant applications.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Certified Research Administration (CRA).
- Knowledge of electronic research administration programs pertaining to grants submissions and of federal procurement regulations, including both FAR and the DFAR, is desired.
