The Christman Company is looking for a Marketing & Proposal Specialist in our Lansing, Michigan region. This is a 1099 contract position with the potential to transition into a permanent role.

What You Will Do:

As a Marketing & Proposal Specialist, you will be an integral member of the marketing team supporting regional marketing efforts by developing marketing materials and content, as well as developing and maintaining project and people records for use in proposals. This role also assists with regional marketing leads in the development of qualification statements, proposals, and presentation materials in the pursuit of new project opportunities.

Your primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:



  • Develop marketing materials such as brochures, award submissions, social/digital posts, presentations, and other collateral materials to generate visibility and awareness of the company in the marketplace.
  • Maintain records of regional projects and field staff, including collecting/cataloging project profile information, proof of outcomes and field team resumes.
  • Assist in the development of high-quality pursuit deliverables including qualification statements, proposals, and presentation materials in coordination with proposal lead.
  • Develop a strong working knowledge of the company's project portfolio and staff resources.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the electronic library (boilerplate) of marketing information and assets, to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness in proposal creation.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure that materials reflect brand standards (language and visual, as well as best practices for visual appeal, effectiveness, user friendliness and support of messaging.
  • Work within the marketing department to engage corporate marketing in establishing a unified brand look/feel, corporate messaging, and shared storytelling.
  • Participate in corporate strategic planning, marketing department strategy, and marketing-team based initiatives as appropriate to support corporate objectives of growth, brand awareness and message consistency.
  • Support the business development and marketing outcomes of the company through a variety of other activities, as assigned.


What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:



  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, communications, or related field with a writing or marketing related focus.
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience, including marketing/communications, professional writing/editing and/or technical proposal development and processes. -or-
  • Equivalent combination of the above education, training, and experience.


Preferred Education and Experience



  • Marketing experience in the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry.
  • Experience delivering professional grade proposals while adhering to strict deadlines.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications:



  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and Adobe Creative Suite applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, InDesign, and Acrobat.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; must be proficient in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and have accurate proofreading skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines, including attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Requires regular flexibility in adapting to deadlines, changing schedules, priorities, and unpredictable events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective relationship building capacity with internal team members at different levels in the organization as well as external partners.
  • Confident, consultative style in expressing opinions in a collaborative work environment.
