TheSupervisorrole is responsible for overseeing thePaintdepartment at ourSolomon, KSfacility. The responsibilities of this department will include employee training, safety adherence, performance, product quality, process improvement, and meeting production target goals. Compliance with all safety requirements, product quality standards, and company policies are essential functions of this role.



  • Ensure clear and timely communication is provided to employees regarding the goals and expectations of the department.
  • Drive teams to understand and adhere to culture of safety and quality aligned with company goals and objectives.
  • Enforces safety guidelines for ouremployees, use of equipmentand ensures environmental compliance is being adhered to.
    • Ensure employees complete the required safety and compliance training by scheduled due dates.
    • Teach technical skills as directed and create job aids as needed. Ensure all personnel receive adequate training to perform the tasks assigned
    • Enforces quality standards, following established production processes, looks for opportunities to reduce cost via lean implementations and meets production schedules to ensure on-time shipment

  • Collaborate withthe manager and direct reports aon daily, weekly, and monthly objectives and communicates these to department leads and employees.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting daily production metrics to the manager.
  • Analyze production data and reports to identify areas for improvement and implementleanstrategies to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the painting trade.
  • Skill in the preparation and application of paints to different types of surfaces
  • Detail attention to formulas, descriptions and SDS for products
  • Ensure the safe use of equipment and coordinate with the manager if equipment maintenance isrequired to keep equipment safe, operational and in good appearance.
  • Ensure production output follows paint and quality inspection processes to achieve quality goals and implement corrective actions as required.
  • Identify and implement process improvements working with the Continuous Improvement and Quality (CIQ) team in alignment with the company strategic direction of standardization.
  • Evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and implement necessary corrective actions working with manager and or human resources
  • Train new employees on how to safely use machinery and follow proper procedures.
  • Track absenteeism and timekeeping of employees
  • Work closely with other shift supervisors to ensure production handovers are effective.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Proven experience in a managerial role within a manufacturing or workshop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of precision measuring instruments and their application in production processes.
  • Familiarity with assembly processes and industrial painting techniques.
  • Ability to operate cranes safely; certification is a plus.
  • Proficient in the use of power tools and hand tools relevant to the shop environment.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles with experience implementing them in a workplace setting.
  • Basic math skills for effective measurement and inventory management.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
  • WMS (Warehouse Management System) experience preferred.
  • OSHA10 certified preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies preferred.
  • A proven track record in safety excellence is required.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental compliance regulations set by the organization. Notifies management immediately of any safety concerns, hazardous conditions, or injuries.
  • Ability to interpret work orders and ensure the team has what they need to be set up for success to execute.
  • Meet department and production goals set by manager.
  • Ensure product quality meets company and client expectations.
  • Possess a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, cooperative attitude, strong attention to detail and can work in a team environment.
  • Adheres to the company's employee handbook policies and embodies the organization's core values.
  • Ability to learn other department job functions and fill in as needed.
  • Complete company compliance and safety training when required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and work under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Physical requirements for this role include, but are not limited to the following:
    • Lift 50lbs floor to waist and waist to shoulder multiple times
    • Standing and walking for long durations
    • Bending, squatting, and kneeling multiple times for long durations
    • The ability to climb up and down a ladder multiple times
    • Balance and stand on a ladder with three points of contact for extended periods
    • Comfortable working in the heat and cold due to manufacturing facilities not being climate controlled
