Creighton University in Omaha, NE is seeking to hire a Career Advisor to support students, focusing on the Nursing as well as Arts & Sciences departments.

This role advises and coaches students and recent alumni regarding career development, job and internship searches, and preparation for graduate and professional school. Responsible for conducting career presentations for students and teaches career planning courses for undergraduate students. Collaborates on current and new initiatives, develops, and maintains relationships with campus and community partners, and is involved in the preparation and support of career development programs. Also responsible for the execution, collection, and analysis of learning assessments for the Career Center programs and services.

Key Responsibilities



  • Advises and coaches undergraduate students and recent alumni with regard to all aspects of career development and job search efforts. Includes interest and skills assessments, career discernment advising, job and internship coaching, resume development, practice interviews for employment and advanced study opportunities, particularly in health sciences (medical, pharmacy, dental, occupational/physical therapy, etc.).
  • Conducts presentations for the career development and job search process. This includes presentations to residence hall groups, student organizations, prospective students and parents, class sessions, and community programs.
  • Collaborates and partners with other Creighton offices, including Student Life and academic departments, on various programs and initiatives. Participates in all career development and employer programs offered through the Career Center, including career fairs, employer outreach, admissions, and new student events.
  • Coordinate the execution, collection, and analysis of learning assessments for the Career Center programs and services. Collaborate with staff members to analyze and input data into campus wide TaskStream system. Act as a consultant to the Career Center staff to advise on methods and collection of assessment data.



Qualifications



  • Masters degree in counseling, psychology, or related educational/liberal arts field.
  • Experience in counseling or advising preferred, preferably in a college setting and/or career related.
  • Exceptional presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with the labor market, various industries and occupations, career-related resources and assessments preferred.
