General Summary: The Associate Director of Environmental Health and Safety will assist the Director of Environmental Health and Safety in the development, coordination and administering of programs in environmental health and safety, to ensure that university operations, including research and instructional laboratories, meet all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Labor (DOL) and other governmental laws and regulations. This position may be assigned formal on-call duties in accordance with Article 18.3 of the contract between the University and the Professional Staff Union. Assignment of on-call will be detailed using the "On-Call Assignment (Professional Staff) Form." Examples of Duties:
Qualifications: Master's degree in science, Engineering, Occupational Health or a closely related field and a minimum of five years (or a bachelor's degree and seven to ten years of work experience of progressively responsible EHS work preferably in a higher education and/or research laboratory setting, of which a minimum of three years included supervisory and management experience), is required. Expertise with PC-based applications, including Microsoft products required. Experience preparing and presenting EHS trainings, recordkeeping and reporting. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred.
