SCOPE OF POSITION: An Assistant Store Manager is responsible for assisting with the coordination of store operations. They work under the guidance of the Store Director to organize, plan, and implement a strategy. They also ensure store schedules and objectives are met by team members while monitoring inventory and ordering merchandise based on demand.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assist with providing day-to-day direction and coordination of store location.
2. Promote and maintain compliance to all local, state and federal laws as well as company and department policies and Standard Operating Procedures. This includes, but is not limited to understanding and following Child Labor Laws, Workers Compensation reporting requirements and Occupational Safety and Health standards.
3. Train assigned personnel, as required and complete appropriate training paperwork in a timely fashion.
4. Resolve scheduling problems and emergency schedule changes/needs. Is directly responsible for weekly stocker schedule.
5. Ensure all departments and team members operate in an efficient and effective manner and follow established company policies and procedures.
6. Plan and build displays for ad merchandise.
7. Oversees the grocery section of the store, this includes ordering and stocking functions.
8. Remain aware of new products coming into the store and ensure they are slotted on the shelves in a timely manner.
9. Provide helpful and accurate feedback for employee performance evaluations.
10. Promote and maintain a flexible, cooperative, positive, team oriented, customer-focused attitude within internal store personnel and between all store locations. Lead by example.
11. Keep Store Director aware of concerns, issues, etc. warranting their attention, knowledge of, action and/or resolution in a timely manner.
12. Work in unison with all management team to achieve store objectives
13. Maintain store records, files, accounts and databases in areas of responsibility, as required. Ensure security and confidentiality of assigned company records, financial records, databases, files, etc. Ensure departmental records are maintained as required.
14. Attend Monday department meetings and communicate pertinent information to MOD's and/or other store personnel as required. Participate in MOD meetings when able.
15. Process payroll, if necessary.
16. Review time and attendance, if necessary.
17. Monitor inventory levels of assigned commodities to minimize over/under stock and maximize turns.
18. Interface with vendors as required. Evaluate, select and purchase products that best achieve store objective/goals. Recommend cost-saving measures when necessary.
19. Efficiently delegate duties/responsibilities to store personnel to ensure maximum performance. Audit performance and take appropriate/timely correction action, as required. Has disciplinary authority up to and including suspension.
20. Perform other duties as deemed necessary by Store Director, Assistant Manager, Director of Operations or President.
