We have an exciting new opportunity to join Symetra as a Sr. Software Engineer II.

About the role
A Senior Software Engineer II solves complex business challenges by leading the delivery of quality solutions within the team. They are responsible for implementation of patterns and practices that ensure adherence to organization security, performance and compliance standards and policies. Provide assistance and guidance to all engineers within the team as needed.

What you will do



  • Develop secure, high quality, performant code, using the required programming languages and tools while following team standards.
  • Develop reusable solutions within the team.
  • Collaborate, participate in and approve code reviews.
  • Merge Production-ready code for deployment.
  • Define code performance metrics and implement reporting as needed.
  • Define and perform unit testing of code.
  • Support functional and regression testing as required.
  • Work with team to accurately develop and test software systems, according to design.
  • Provide input to and implement design patterns, impacting single team.
  • Participate in or conduct design reviews.
  • Responsible for implementation of information security, disaster recovery, performance and capacity standards for the team
  • Ability to lead design activities and influence system architecture.
  • Oversee implementation of a new solution, feature, capability, or practice.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to all engineers within the team as needed.

Compensation
Salary Range: $125,000 - $208,400 plus eligibility for annual bonus program.

Who you are



  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field, OR relevant accredited technical certification, OR equivalent work experience.
  • Proficiency equivalent to at least 7 years of combined experience in multiple of the following technology domains: Cloud (serverless, containers, infrastructure as code, cloud computing services) Client-server (.Net, Java), Web (ASP.Net, Python, JavaScript, responsive design), Database (SQL, MySQL, DB2, DocumentDB), Mainframe (COBOL, JCL, CICS). Mastery of software testing patterns and methodologies.
