JOB SUMMARY:
The Infrastructure System and Storage Administrator reports directly to the IT Director and is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the reliability, security and efficiency of server environments, storage systems and visualization platforms, and backup solutions. This person will collaboratively work alongside and provide support to the desktop support specialist to help us provide best-in class technical services for our diverse internal customer base.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Install, configure, and maintain server systems and storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, and cloud-based storage.
- Ensure the availability and performance of IT infrastructure, including network systems and data storage.
- Ensure system security through best practices, including regular updates and patches.
- Supporting, installing, and fixing PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, mobile devices, and other computer assets.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure reliable backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Collaborate with IT teams to design and enhance infrastructure and storage architecture.
- Implement and oversee security measures for data storage and system access.
- Manage data backups, restoration processes, and storage provisioning
- Stay current with emerging technologies and propose upgrades and improvements.
- Partner and communicate with internal developers/engineers to solve application issues.
- Keep detailed documentation of infrastructure and storage environments.
- Act as backup and support to IT desktop support resources, responds to tier II escalations and resolves complex operating errors.
- Contributes to the implementation of IT policies, procedures and best practices, and maintain work instructions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., MCSE, CCNP, VCP, NCDA) are advantageous.
- Professional certifications such as ITIL, MCSE, or CCNP are preferred.
Experience
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in system administration with a focus on infrastructure and storage management.
- Proven experience in managing IT infrastructure and storage systems.
- Proven experience with systems administration, virtualization, and network management.
- Understanding of network security including setup and administration of VPN's, firewalls, and antivirus/malware.
Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, virtualization, networking, and storage technologies.
- Experience with Active Directory and MS Office 365.
- Proficiency in system and storage management tools and software.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to script and automate tasks (e.g., using PowerShell, Bash, Perl)
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux server environments, Cisco networking, and virtualization technologies.
- Ability to communicate technical information to a wide range of end-users.
- Effective troubleshooting, follow through, and problem resolution abilities.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Strong Work Ethic and positive attitude.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in a professional office environment and typical manufacturing plant environment.
- Standard workdays are Monday - Friday, may require some scheduled evenings and weekend work (project based).
- Ability to travel domestically to interface on projects, up to 10%.
- Must follow all safety standards.
- May require PPE and periodic exposure to low dose radiation.
