NPI Transfer Engineer

Working within Bio-Rad's Life Science Group R&D organization as an NPI Engineer, you'll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists, to manage the transfer between internal or external manufacturing entities. Your experience in engineering documentation and processes will be of great value to ensure thorough evaluation during the transfer process between R&D and Production or Contract Manufacturers.

How You'll Make An Impact:



  • Collaborate in the development of hardware products between internal and external functional groups to properly transfer documentation and hardware from R&D to Production or Contract Manufacturers (CM)
  • Oversee Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and associated documentation from R&D in preparation to deliver supporting documentation to Production or CM entities such that current changes are properly implemented by Production or CM.
  • Oversee technical issues between Production or CM and the appropriate R&D resource in order to maintain a productive exchange of information in a timely fashion.
  • Manage, track and report design change requests originating from Production or CM.
  • Manage and update Engineering Bills of Materials (eBOM) between R&D and Production (or CMs) affected by ECOs Manage internal engineering prototype builds where Build Plans clearly define resources, roles and tasks to maintain project build schedules.
  • Develop Assembly, Test and Installation procedures with collaboration of the design, manufacturing and service teams to ensure high level of process efficiency and safety. Identify or convey process improvements observed or identified by the CM which improve efficiency, quality, or safety.
  • Monitor and track Service needs for product launches which includes Service Demand, Service Tools, Service Fixtures and FRU BOMs in collaboration with internal Documentation Groups and appropriate CM procurement organizations.
  • Oversee the transfer of fixtures between R&D and CM and provide detailed technical information between CM and R&D when technical issues surface in order to address and implement required changes.


What You Bring:



  • Education: B.S. in mechanical, or electrical engineering.
  • Work Experience: 5 to 10 preferred years of experience in engineering design and testing.
  • 3 to 5 years experience with SolidWorks and Altium (or OrCad).
  • 3 to 5 years experience with SAP related to engineering documentation and materials integration.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, excellent hands-on laboratory abilities, and an eagerness to make an immediate impact in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in product development from the design concept phase into production that encompasses product BOM structures, design documentation, hardware specifications, assembly and test procedures.
  • Strong Excel skills to manage advanced engineering data Dashboards for BOM development as well as materials and documentation tracking.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $110,300 to $151,700 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
