JOB TYPE Classification: Nonexempt Supervises Positions: No JOB SUMMARY Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment and applies the principles of standard precautions and infection control in a variety of settings. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for the population assigned. Receives assignments as delegated by the RN. The Certified Technical Assistant will be able to access data reflective of the patient's status and report the information needed to identify each patients needs relative to this information. Provides care based on established policies and procedures. The Technical Assistant performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within their scope. Patient Care: Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.
Communication:Communicates effectively and professionally with all members of the interdisciplinary team, patients, providers, and all levels of healthcare.
Nursing Expertise:Assists with patient care while complying with Department, Hospital, and Regulatory policies and procedures.
The incumbent may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: 1 year of experience preferred. Previous healthcare experience preferred. Refer to the Life Support Training Policy for additional details. Licensure: Current CNA, Phlebotomy, or CMA/CCMA/RMA certification with state required. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated critical thinking skills. High level of compassion, desire to help others and highly motivated. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Phlebotomy and medical terminology. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Physical Demand Code: 17A, Medical Technician/Other Techs Work Function/Activity: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand The job requires constant sitting, standing, walking, and bending/stooping. Frequent repetitive body movements. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
