JOB SUMMARY:

The scope of this job is to provide on-site technical support services for the audiovisual (A/V) and video teleconference (VTC) systems situated at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Headquarters Unit in Washington D.C., as well as other sites with the D.C. region as needed.

Compensation Range: $90,000 - $100,000

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The candidate will:



  • Assist with the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of A/V equipment and systems.
  • Operate video teleconferencing (VTC) systems and equipment supporting in-person and virtual meetings.
  • Support live video switched events through setup, and operation of standard and digital A/V equipment and systems.
  • Run tests on visuals, audio, signal distribution and troubleshoot any problems that arise.
  • Resolve equipment malfunctions and executing a flawless meeting for both in-person attendees and virtual attendees.
  • Perform operation of A/V control systems via touch screen or computer interface.
  • Perform operation of video switchers for up to 8 cameras plus other video and computer sources
  • Provide conference room scheduling (electronic based) services as required.
  • Transport, setup, and install media equipment to include large screen monitors, speakers, PTZ cameras, video telepresence units, cables, and other similar A/V equipment and tools.
  • Perform any maintenance, cleaning, or basic repairs of A/V equipment.
  • Disassemble equipment, wiring, and support tools in a safe manner as needed.
  • Perform inventory management on equipment, wiring, and accessories.
  • Generate reports for management on regular wear-and-tear items needed for replacement and provide input of best-practice industry standards when applicable.
  • Required to stand, walk and/or sit for extended periods of time; Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, lift and carry up to 35 pounds.

Job Requirements

SECURITY REQUIREMENTS:

To gain access to the USPS computer environment, contractors are required to obtain a USPS security clearance. The requirements and procedure are outlined in the ASM-10, Administrative Support Manual: https://about.usps.com/handbooks/as805/as805c1_001.htm

USPS contractors must be United States citizens or must have lived in the United States for at least 5 years so that US Inspection Service can conduct a background search and Provide a US birth certificate or passport. Additionally, with the assistance of the USPS complete;



  • PS Form 2013, Security Clearance Processing Request
  • SF 85-P, Questionnaire for Public Trust Positions
  • Two SF 87s, Fingerprint Charts.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Required:



  • Three (3) years minimum experience with audio/visual systems
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Solid technical and maintenance skills to perform audio-visual troubleshooting and basic maintenance.
  • Experienced with the operations of video teleconferencing (VTC) equipment and systems.
  • Experienced initiating and supporting video conferencing meetings such as; Microsoft Teams, Cisco WebEx, Zoom Meeting and others.
  • Experienced with multi-image, multiple screens, electronic based presentations.
  • Full understanding of live video switched events and video lighting techniques.
  • Experience supporting the audio-visual needs of a range of conference rooms, fluctuating from 10 participants to 100+ in-person and additional participants joining remotely.
  • Experienced operating audio mixing consoles, adjusting sounds, volumes, audio amplification and enhancement, audio source assignments, routing, patching and distribution.
  • Full understanding of all audio and visual signal routing paths, both in standard and digital formats. (Patch panels, RGB, SDI, in standard and digital video and audio routers.)
  • Knowledge of microphone types, usage, and placement; experience with both wireless and hard-wired microphones, portable delegate microphone system or DCN system.
  • Basic Network patching skills and ability to assist with Telecom related services as needed.
  • Able to operate both Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac operating systems.
  • Ability to adapt to quickly changing situations under pressure required.

Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Must possess excellent interpersonal and customer services skills. Ability to convey a professional and positive image to customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to comprehend and apply basic mathematics.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to be responsive and persuasive to all levels of the organization. Good analytical and reasoning abilities.
