SRNL Environmental and Legacy Management is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to perform hands-on research related to the synthesis, characterization, and/or separation of a wide variety of actinide materials (or their surrogates). Qualified individuals must hold a STEM degree earned from a minority serving institution to be eligible for the Minority Serving Institutions Partnership Program (MSIPP). SRNL performs research and development activities for a wide variety of end-users including sponsors in the Department of Energy Office of Environmental Management, other US Government agencies, as well as commercial entities funded through DOE research voucher programs. This postdoctoral position will involve support to the SRNL Environmental and Legacy Management mission by requiring the postdoctoral researcher to exercise creativity in discovery and design of experiments to solve a variety of technical challenges. The suite of research projects in which the postdoctoral researcher will be involved may include (but are not limited to) sustainability in spent nuclear fuel processing, development of high-quality reference materials for international nuclear safeguards, environmental monitoring/groundwater remediation, and furthering of US Weapon of Mass Effect nonproliferation and detection capabilities, experimentation in the field of radioactive and hazardous material processing (including spent nuclear fuel), stabilization, and characterization to enable nuclear materials processing, site cleanup, and waste disposition across the Department of Energy complex. The Postdoctoral Research Associate positions are fixed term assignments within the company and benefits eligible. |
