We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Administrator for our underground mining operations near Brookwood, Alabama. We expect this person to be a role model for the "Warrior Way" and uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork.

About the Role:
As Human Resources Administrator, you will perform various tasks relating to both HR and payroll functions. The Human Resources Administrator will work closely with the HR Manager, operations supervisors and other team members to maintain a safe work environment while adhering to company policies and procedures.
The Human Resources Administrator will assist with daily functions of the Human Resources department that include responsibilities such as employee scheduling, attendance, job changes, job postings, payroll entries, benefits, leave and enforcing company policies and practices. The position is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management within our mining operations. The position helps formulate partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization

  • Job Description

    Responsibilities:

    • Consults with management, providing professional HR assistance to employees
    • Assists with analyzing trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
    • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
    • Assists with scheduling mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include required industry related training programs and in house training programs.
    • Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, and holiday parties.
    • Assists with performing routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to payroll, benefits, and leave; Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
    • Assists with maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
    • Participates in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
    • Other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.

    Who You are:

    • The HR Administrator is primarily a day shift role, with start time beginning at 5 a.m., that reports to the operations on a daily basis. This is not a remote role. Attendance on other shifts may be required from time to time.
    • High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's degree in related fields preferred but not required
    • 3 years of human resources or payroll experience preferred
    • SHRM or PHR certification preferred but not required
    • Preferred experience in Workday (or similar) HRIS platform and other MS Office programs such as Excel, Word, etc.
    • Maintain good punctuality and attendance.
    • Maintain strict adherence to confidentiality.
    • Ability to work safely and effectively in an industrial environment
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with other team members and supervisors.
    • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
    • Good organizational, time management and multitasking skills.

    Environment and Safety

    • Ensure adherence to State, Federal and Company workplace policies and standard work procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control.
    • Maintain a high level of Safety performance through effective communication, monitoring, and revision of standard work procedures.
    • Identify and report safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries, and property damage at the workplace.
    • Attend and participate in all scheduled safety meetings and training.
    • Ensure adherence to environmental policy, work standards, management plans and regulatory obligations and requirements.
