Job summary:

The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for the activities of the warehouse/distribution operations and the department associates. Activities include, but are not limited to shipping, receiving, mail center or records retention, warehouse activities such as loading and unloading trucks or rail cars, stacking or pulling inventory parts and preparing orders for shipment. The Warehouse Supervisor is also responsible for the general safety of the associates and maintenance of inventory of the warehouse. Guides and trains associates in the proper methods and procedures needed for the performance of their assigned tasks to meet department requirements and to ensure all associates have the necessary skills to perform assigned duties.

Responsibilities:

* Oversees staff performance and provides career counseling to be consistent with objectives.

* Follows all company and department guidelines to complete all job requirements and duties in a professional and timely manner.

* Plans the schedules and workloads of staff to coincide with own responsibilities in accordance with the goals and objectives of the department to meet customer needs.

* Determines the best method to ship material at the least cost, processing all Company shipping requests, to comply with shipping regulations. Negotiate contracts with Freight Carriers to ensure best cost.

* Develops and recommends improvements for the warehouse/distribution center area to the department Manager.

* Responsible for scrapping or selling obsolete materials to generate income for department/company.

* Responsible for communications with Customs Broker to ensure timely deliveries to ensure timely deliveries to warehouse.

* May be responsible for additional warehouse locations and their inventories.

Requirements (education, experience, travel, physical, work environment):

The qualified candidate will possess a High School diploma or GED. Associates Degree or business related college-level courses preferred. Requires three years supervisory experience as well as minimum of three years shipping/receiving, inventory control experience. Strong computer skills with knowledge of appropriate software programs. Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal). Must be an articulate, self-starter and enjoy working with people.
