The Position

Department Summary

Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology (BCP) group develops relevant quantitative biochemical and cellular assays and experiments to support drug discovery efforts at Genentech. The department employs a wide spectrum of Scientists at various levels and is recognized globally for its important contribution to drug discovery in diverse therapeutic areas.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco on-site

The Opportunity:

  • Learn and implement quantitative mass spectrometry techniques for protein therapeutic or target quantification

  • Develop in vitro sample preparation methods for intact protein and/or peptide mass spectrometry analysis

  • Utilize bioinformatics software tools for analysis of proteins/peptides and interpretation/quantitation of data

Program Highlights:

  • Intensive 12-weeks full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer Internship)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry

Who You Are:

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

  • Strongly prefer at least 2 years' hands-on experience in Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LC/MS)

  • Knowledge or experience in proteomic or large molecule mass spectrometry is highly desirable

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work independently to achieve desired results from general objectives

  • Demonstrated ability to document summary reports and presentations

Required Majors: Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related fields

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $35.00-$45.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
