As a Reading Tutor, your crucial role will impact the lives of many children, offering vital assistance to those who need extra help reading at their grade level. Immerse yourself in a local school and support kindergarten through third grade students with one-on-one or paired guidance to enrich their reading skills. With training and on-site coaching, you'll be equipped to help children thrive. Your commitment during school hours throughout the academic year guarantees a significant impact. It Starts with a Passion Reading Corps takes everyday people and trains them to be great tutors. Anyone can become a tutor as long as they have a passion to make a difference - and meet the following minimum qualifications. By the time they begin their service, our tutors are:
*Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve in our programs at this time. DACA applicants may be eligible for Americorps VISTA programs. For more information, click here.
