Dietitian will be a Certified Specialist, in the specialty area designated by leadership for this role, as recognized by appropriate governing body (ex: A.N.D, CDR, A.S.P.E.N., etc) (Certification ex: Oncology (CSO), Renal (CSR), etc). Specialist will perform duties in designated areas where their expertise will be best utilized. Prepares and implements nutritional care plans for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in accordance with departmental policy and standards of care. Prioritizes patients at high risk using daily Dietitian Census Reports. Initiates supplements, snacks, calorie counts and consistency changes as part of the patient's individual medical condition. Incorporates current evidence-based research into clinical practice. Acts as a liaison between the Nutritional Services Department and the Medical Staff, Nursing Staff and other Ancillary Departments. Responsibilities involve providing nutritional counseling to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, families, and others as requested. Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings and weekend call. Must complete at least 5 hours of continuing education annually specific to the specialty certification, as well as maintain specialty certification throughout tenure of position.
