Your Role With Us:

The Director of House Operations and Virtual Nursing is responsible for the following functions:

Creates a leadership culture that supports mentoring and shared decision making:

  • Establish and maintain an engaged work culture in which front line employees share in decisions and take ownership for results.
  • Liaisons with other directors across the continuum to foster a shared vision of nursing and clinical practice.
  • Mentors managers and assistant managers to encourage growth and success.
  • Follows and encourages principles of Magnet designation.

Creates a culture which fosters quality and safe patient care:

  • Continually assesses, evaluates and implements action plans to assure quality of nursing care across the continuum.
  • Promotes a professional nursing practice environment reflecting evidence-based nursing practice.
  • Maintains collaborative relationship with Medical Staff to assure quality patient care.
  • Responds promptly to quality or safety concerns.
  • Promotes innovation and creativity to improve quality, safety and patient experience.
  • Ensures departmental and unit strategies is aligned in meetings organizational strategies and goals.
  • Serves as a Lean leader by coaching Lean methodology to improve house operations, patient flow, patient care processes and patient experience.

Assures customer service goals are achieved:

  • Develops and implements continuous improvement to ensure effective patient flow and house operations.
  • Establishes customer service goals and tests of change using patient satisfaction data.
  • Assures that resources are managed to achieve service line and organizational goals.
  • Establishes annual budget based on operating plans, service line action plans, and customer feedback.
  • Monitors financial performance to budget; works with managers to develop action plans in response to unanticipated expenses or financial results over budget.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of financial management principles within clinical operations.

Community Involvement:

Interfaces with the community in a variety of venues to collaborate and support development of Emergency Preparedness Services and access to emergency services in our community. Thesevenues may include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaboration with EMS, Fire, etc.
  • Work with community partners through Emergency Operations Council such as FEMA and other disaster relief work groups.
  • Provide feedback to lobbyists on pertinent legislative bills Serve on task forces, committees, or other community teams as needed.

Background/Expertise:

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree and a master's degree are required; preference given to BSN and MSN.
  • If qualified candidate has MSN, a non-nursing bachelor's degree may be considered.
  • If qualified candidate has BSN, a master's degree in business or related field may be considered.
  • If qualified candidate has BSN and no master's degree, an agreement to obtain master's degree within three years may be considered.

Credentials:

  • Registered Nurse: Must be currently licensed or eligible for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon.
  • Basic Life Support.
  • AONE Cert Nurse Manager and Leader OR ANCC Nurse Executive must be obtained within 2 years of hire and kept current.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five years acute care experience required.
  • Minimum of two years progressive management experience required; five or more years preferred.
  • ED nursing experience preferred.
  • Program/system development experience preferred.
  • Experience with patient throughput work preferred.
