Position Description

Supports ongoing academic success and persistence through graduation by leading specialized retention initiatives and programs. Utilizes early alert systems and institutional data to design large-scale intervention plans. Oversees a team of Student Success Specialists who are each embedded in a specific academic college. May work directly with a cohort of students to provide holistic student success support through developing academic development plans, providing resource referrals, and assisting with academic and career goal setting. The Lead Student Success Specialist position is currently restricted for use in Academic Innovation & Student Success.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Provides support for groups of students on scholarships.
  • Manages Student Success Specialist, including conducting regular meetings and evaluations.
  • Builds strong College and campus partnerships through regular communication, meetings, and collaborative efforts.
  • Collaborates with external and internal campus and scholarship partners to plan, implement, and assess program.
  • Works with Student Success Specialist team to hire, train, and develop staff.
  • Implements specific initiatives such as completion and enrollment campaigns in conjunction with Raider Success Hub.
  • Develops, manages, and participates in student programming, events, and initiatives to support student connections, development, and success.
  • Presents to groups of students, parents, and faculty/staff members about critical issues in student success.
  • May teach at least one assigned section of RRP 1100: Raider Ready for incoming students with the goal of helping them achieve academic and personal success.
  • Completes other administrative responsibilities intended to accomplish individual and departmental goals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and three years of experience developing or managing programs or projects. Additional job related experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

The diverse nature of this position requires a professional with knowledge of and/or experience with student development programs on a college campus. A master's degree in counseling, higher education, or other related field is strongly preferred.

Pay Statement

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan by visiting www.depts.ttu.edu/hr/payplan.

Schedule Details

Regular work hours from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings and weekends to attend student programming and events.
