ISP Technician - Metronet

POSITION SUMMARY:

The ISP Technician's primary role will be to perform installs for new projects and should have the ability to perform advanced installations and troubleshooting. The ISP Technician may also assist in performing regular Site Maintenance. The candidate should also have knowledge and experience installing and working with; DC power systems, DC battery plants, DC/AC Inverters, telemetry systems, new cabinet and hut installs and all forms of Ironwork and equipment installation.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Install hardware, i.e., racks, bays, mount equipment in racks.
  • Install, test and commission small DC Power plants (200A - 1500A)
  • Run Power Cable and terminate to fuse panels and fuse bays
  • Cross connect fiber jumpers/RG6 cabling between different pieces of equipment
  • Complete tasks within work order tickets with high level of detail and accuracy
  • Complete Break/Fix troubleshooting on equipment, lines, and DC Power
  • Act as eyes and hands during troubleshooting for the NOC
  • Perform, document, and inspect quarterly hut preventive maintenance procedures for:

    • HVAC
    • Generator
    • DC Battery and Rectifier Plant
    • Other Facilities network assets as deployed


  • Monthly inspection and generation of environmental alarms back to the NOC
  • Run, lace, terminate and dress network and power cable
  • Read technical work order and project drawings
  • Read and understand manufacturer installation documentation
  • Work with little to no supervision.
  • Work with live AC/DC power equipment.
  • Ability to use serial connection to configure equipment.
  • Ability to set up TCP/IP connection to laptop to configure equipment
  • Configure equipment onsite for proper telemetry/alarm data to be recorded back at the NOC
  • Ensure proper system operation including the quality testing, reliability and productive uses of off-air towers, satellite earth station and all head-end and hub site equipment as needed
  • Follow company policies and procedures for troubleshooting and testing, routine and periodic maintenance of sites and structures
  • Interface with third party co-location space, providers, and vendors in a professional manner
  • Rotating on call as required to fulfill business necessity
  • All other duties as assigned



JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:



  • High School diploma, technical school, or GED required
  • 3 years of experience working as an installer/technician for a Telecommunications or Cable Television company
  • Valid driver's license required and a good driving record
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
